This grand Caribbean mansion could tell you stories about the gala parties held within its walls in years past, and of the celebrated and famous who have visited Kyalami and enjoyed the genteel ambience here. The entire property has been lovingly renovated and equipped with all of the latest amenities, and guests may now enjoy the spacious grandeur of this aristocratic and renowned property. Located hillside above beautiful Charlotte Amalie with its panorama of red roofs, the harbor and Water and Hassel Islands, you can enjoy the daily parade of cruise ships and seaplanes coming and going below in the harbor, breathtaking sunsets, and at night, the twinkling lights of town, all at your feet.

Kyalami's main level, a generous 4600 square feet, provides an abundance of space and privacy for up to four guests. Cool terrazzo floors throughout set the stage for classic Caribbean elegance: a large and magnificent formal Great Room, delicately done in silk upholstery and handcrafted fretwork, occupies center stage, with a more casual media room adjacent, furnished with a big sink-into curved leather sofa for lazing and TV watching. Off the Great Room are a dining area, and an air-conditioned TV room with two comfy sofas. The owners' collection of original art is displayed in all rooms. Along the south, or harbor side of Kyalami, is a 60-foot verandah set with umbrellaed tables and chairs for alfresco dining under the stars. On the east side of Kyalami's main level is the enormous kitchen with skylights, completely air-conditioned and equipped with a massive refrigerator-freezer and a large collection of chef's equipment. On the other side of Kyalami's main level are two air-conditioned king bedroom/bath suites. The large, fully air-conditioned master suite is graced with original handcarved woodwork, beautifully fanciful and intricate; a lavish marble bath adjoins and offers a large tub on a dais, shower and built-in cabinetry. Just off this suite is a small patio with a hot tub overlooking the harbor view; a gate conveniently connects this patio with the main verandah. The second king suite is smaller and has just been refurbished and equipped with cable TV and DVD player.

A staircase from the kitchen leads down to the garden and pool level, where Kyalami's large pool and canvas-fringed cabana await. The pool area is a lush tropical Eden enclosed by tall, mature mango trees, bananas and palms. The pool deck is furnished with cushioned chaise lounges and round tables shaded by market umbrellas; there are also pool floats, a small refrigerator for cold drinks and a gas grill. This property is centrally located for convenient access to Magens Bay Beach, town, shopping and many excellent restaurants (including Sib's and Mafolie, right in the neighborhood). Kyalami is a Zulu word meaning "Our loving home" - make this gracious mansion your home away from home, and enjoy golden days in this beautifully-done island landmark.

Rental Notes
Kyalami has an on-site manager, Edward Smith, aka "Smitty," who lives in the lower (garden) level of the property with Kyalami's house dog, a well-mannered chocolate Labrador named Max. Should you have any maintenance problems or questions, Kyalami's resident manager will be happy to assist you at any time. On the lower level is 1 tenant who is generally out working during the day and rarely seen at all - but the pool and pool cabana are for your exclusive use only when you rent Kyalami.

Also at Kyalami are a pen of local tortoises outside the kitchen door which Smitty cares for, and two outside cats on the property which are never permitted inside.
