Mountain Biking/Hiking

It is not a secret that mountain biking and hiking are some of the summer's hottest outdoor activities, and they are available on almost any good mountain. In Park City, take the Crescent Hi-Speed Quad up the mountain and enjoy your ride (or hike!) down the mountain. If you are visiting Lake Tahoe, take the short hike up to Angora Lake and then dive in to cool off. Whistler has an entire park devoted to mountain biking with terrain perfect for any skill level. Explore the blooming wildflowers on a scenic hike in Vail, where you will swear you are in Switzerland making your way through the Swiss Alps. No matter where your vacation takes you, there is always a great trail to be discovered by foot or pedals.

Known as one of the most challenging fishing destinations in the West, Mammoth Lakes offers many opportunities to test your "inner-angler" from a dock, the shore, or even a boat. Jackson Hole is home to several scenic rivers full of fish, and also offers guided trips and lessons for beginners. If you want to catch a record-breaking Lake Trout, stop by Lake Tahoe and take a guided trip where they will show you the most fish-populated areas. Whistler offers year-round fishing, and is famous for their abundance of rainbow and cutthroat trout in the summer seasons, and salmon in the odd-numbered years. Fishing is the perfect outdoor activity where one can just relax, while catching dinner at the same time!

Park City and nearby Heber Valley joined together during the 2002 Winter Olympics to create new golf opportunities in the valley. Between the two now lay 14 superb courses, all within 30 minutes of a world-class resort. Lake Tahoe offers several golf courses, both on the South and North shores, for guests to golf in natural meadows, among big pines, and along the beautiful lake itself. Although Mammoth Lakes only has two golf courses, they are both located at the highest elevation in California, enticing players from all over the country to test out their high elevation game. Vail offers their pristine golf club at the base of Gore Mountain Range, allowing guests to tee off at 8.200 feet. Golfing is the perfect way to start off your morning or spend your afternoon at any of these excellent courses.

Outdoor Activity Center

Outdoor activity centers, adventure centers, family fun parks--whatever you want to call them, these centers aren't available at all mountain resorts, but are definitely worth considering when booking for a vacation this summer. Perfect for families with children and adults alike, outdoor activity centers provide a much needed break between busy vacation activities. Park City is famous for their activity center which includes bungee trampolines, an alpine slide and coaster, and one of the longest zip lines in the West. Mammoth offers an unlimited children's pass for a reasonable price at their adventure center which includes access to the climbing wall, zip line, bungee trampoline, and bike park practice loop. These outdoor centers are so fun, even the locals enjoy participating in the activities regularly.
