About Crested Butte, CO Tucked away from Colorado’s mountain interstate I-70 and the chain of big resort towns along it, Crested Butte is a world apart in the wintertime. Sometimes referred to as “Colorado’s last great ski town,” the feel is distinctly lived-in. The small town and its advanced ski terrain attract its share of visitors, but the locals preside. Whether they’re year-round long-timers or seasonal ski birds, they have one thing in common: they take their snowsports very seriously. Here you’ll find teams and leagues of every winter sport imaginable -- alpine racing, snowboarding, free-ride, telemark skiing and ice hockey, to name a few. In fact, Crested Butte is home to a number of former Olympic medalists and sent two athletes to the Winter Olympics of 2014.
